Kultur Aktiv e.V. was founded in Dresden in 2002 to promote culture in the Äußere Neustadt district. Since then it has developed into an organisation that knows how to network and present both locally and internationally. Kultur Aktiv promotes art and culture, education and upbringing and international understanding. By 'Kultur Aktiv' we mean the principle of actively shaping art and culture. Our association therefore consciously adheres to the character of an open platform in order to offer committed and active citizens tried and tested infrastructure and know-how for the implementation of their own ideas in the cultural and local environment. We see our efforts, both locally and internationally, as a contribution to strengthening civil society and democratic structures (e.g. NGOs) and values. In our premises we have also been able to establish a photo gallery in the former shop, which additionally supports the openness of our premises.
At the core of our commitment is our commitment:
Local, regularly recurring activities
- Lustgarten Festival / Kultur Aktiv Insel - as part of the Bunte Republik Neustadt (BRN)
- Pragomania - Series of events for the Czech-German Cultural Days
- Gallery nEUROPA - Photo gallery with focus on Eastern Europe
- Further, e.g. Winterreisen (travel lectures), events for Europawoche
- Networking and lobbying for the promotion of culture & creative industries
International exchange projects with partners in the following regions
- Western Balkans (Macedonia, Serbia)
- Central Europe (Czech Republic, Poland)
- Caucasus (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia)
- Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus)
The strength of our work lies in using synergies between the 'standing leg' of local socio-culture and the 'free leg' of cultural exchange with Central and Eastern Europe. Our activities with Central and Eastern Europe offer many starting points to further develop Dresden's potential as a bridge between East and West and as a gateway to the East. Without our own venue or centre, we cooperate with many partners in Dresden and thus make an important contribution to the diverse and rich cultural life in our city. This creative game in implementing projects with changing content, forms of expression and partners is an essential part of our cooperative identity.
